Installing and Configuring an Alternate Driver in Windows Vista

An alternate compatible print driver solution to your HP method is offered with the Windows Vista Operating-system and it is already on your desktop. You shouldn't have to download anything.
Use this document to identify printed driver that may be works with your HP product and to install and configure it on the computer. This print driver enables us to utilize basic functions for the product.
There is not the full-feature Windows Vista print driver solution available.
Installing and configuring a compatible driver

Go through steps below to run and configure paper driver that may be works with your HP product.
The first step: Determine the proper compatible driver

Make use of the following list to find the print driver that's compatible with your HP product.

Step two: Install the driver

Install the compatible print driver using the pc.
Be sure that the USB cable is just not coupled to the HP product.
From your Windows taskbar, click on the Windows icon ( ), type control printers in the Start Search box, after which press Enter . The Printers window appears.
Click Give a printer and click Give a local printer .
Click the Work with an existing port check box.
From the Make use of an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port) after which it click Next .
Under Manufacturer around the Install the printer driver panel, select HP .
Under Printers , choose the appropriate alternate print driver for that HP product and click Next .
In the Printer name text box, type the HP product name after which click Next . The print driver actually starts to install.

? :The alternate print driver sounds like the default name. The name may be changed towards the name in the HP product, if desired.
From message appears on the computer that this product was added successfully, connect the USB cable for the product and to laptop computer.
About the Found New Hardware screen, click Cancel .

? :If multiple pop-up windows appear, click Cancel on each window.
Step three: Configure the driver

Configure the installed print driver.
Inside the Printers window, right-click the name from the HP product after which it click Properties . The Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Ports tab.
Alter the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4 , as indicated in the following table.

? :When there is several USB/DOT4 port available, select the USB/DOT4 port with all the highest port number, because port is often assigned towards last connected and detected USB print device. To the width from the ports row within the Properties panel to see the total port name, squeeze cursor on the vertical line between Port and outline , click and retain the mouse button, after which it move the mouse to the right prior to the port name is visible.

Click Apply .
Penultimate step: Print an experiment page

Within the Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
Click Print Test Page .
